Download Krimhilde Fonts by FDI

Image
Download Krimhilde Fonts by FDI Krimhilde was originally designed by Albert Auspurg and released in 1933 with the type foundry Ludwig & Mayer. The design mixes elements of German blackletter typefaces and geometric sans-serif designs, which became popular in the 1920s in the movement known as New Typography. The FDI version of Krimhilde offers both original styles (regular and bold) as version A with a full Latin 1 character set. Version B has alternative shapes for some letters to make the design more legible for people who are not familiar with the German blackletter shapes. In addition, there are optional display styles available (outline, shadow and fill), which can be used separately or together to create a chromatic layout. Despite being drawn by Futura creator Paul Renner, it never achieved the same popularity and spent decades lacking a much-needed digital revival. Monotype designers Linda Hintz and Toshi Omagari have taken its existing three weights and, after extensive research into the original wood type, extended them into the vast Neue Plak family. More The typeface is available in 60 weights that stay true to Renners intentions, and offer the same blend of quirky details and German stiffness as Hintz describes it. The design is an unusual mixture, bringing together a defiant outer appearance thats counteracted by more playful details found in the lowercase r, and the large dots over the is. Other distinctive details include open or strikethrough counters, and a set of hairline widths that reduce Renners original design to its bare bone...
